Valgerdur, born in 1884 to John and Gudrun Thordarson of Glenboro married John Christopherson. Following their wedding day they took a trip west to visit his parents at Crescent Beach, British Columbia. The mild costal climate of British Columbia attracted them to move to the Crescent area in 1912. By this time three sons had been born to them at the Grund home: Donald, Alvin, and John Sigurdur Jr. Other children followed: a son, Haldor [sic], and three daughters, Caroline, Evelyn, and Kathleen.
Jon's work included farming and construction. Latterly, he helped Vala in the management of a successful pie industry. Sharing interests in political, community and social affairs, John and Vala were a devoted couple to their church and family. They made their home in Vancouver until John passed away in 1949.

John passed away in 1949. Vala moved with Carrie to Crescent and passed away in 1975.

Sharing interested in political, community and social affairs, John and Vala were a devoted couple to their church and family....

Vala and John´s family have grown to include nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and maintain close traditional family ties.

The Erlindson's are Valgurder [Vala] Christopherson's sister Kristin's relatives. She married Petur Erlkindson. So Anna, Runa and Emil are Everlyn's mother's cousins.

From Mike Christopherson,
"Grandmother Vala (Valgedur Thordsarson) background. who grew up in Glenboro as you know and whose parents (Jon and Gundrun) came from Dalasysla, Iceland (western) which is the area where Erik the Red and son Leif came from. The area..is rich in saga's so this has become an interesting area for me. Vala's parents apparently opened a creamery in Glenboro at some point according to the Heritage book."

CHRIS AND LAURA THORDARSON FAMILY
Chris Thordarson was the son of Jon and Gudrun Thordarson, who settled in Argyle many years ago. Laura Anderson, born in 1877, was Skuli and Sigridur Anderson’s daughter. Chris and Laura were married in Frelsis Lutheran Church on June 15, 1898. This church is about five and a half miles north of Baldur. There was a large wedding with a reception at Skjalbreid Hall at Grund, where the women of the area cooked a full-course meal on stoves which stood out in the open brought for this occasion. After the reception a dance followed in the hall. This lasted until the wee small hours.

Chris and Laura moved to Tantallon, Sask. and farmed for some years. They then moved to Edmonton, where, in 1914, they had a successful dairy farm close to Edmonton. Chris then sold that and started a road construction business. They had seven children: Harold, Gwennie, Gunna, Martha, Chris, Laurence and Norman. Chris and Laura are both deceased.
