Susie's Childhood
1981 Information from "Come into our Heritage RM of Argyle 1882-1982"

Scratched in a window pane in the kitchen at Grund is the name "Susie". Who was she? Susie was born on January 7, 1886, in the small log house at Grund. She was the little girl who used to ride about the rolling hills on her Icelandic pony "Geysir". She would stand on the back of her little pony while she dreamed of joining the circus. She was the little girl who walked to school at Hola each day with her brothers and sisters, stopping briefly at the farm by the big hill where they were joined by the Baldwin children, and she was the one who walked close behind the Baldwin boys because 'they were so tall and broke the cold winder wind.' She knew the worry and concern when her parents rushed her young sister Lilja to Winnipeg for an appendicitis operation, and she knew the dull ache of sorrow when her parents returned from Winnipeg alone. Susie was 18 when her father's health forced her parents to move to British Columbia. She remained at Grund to help her brothers with the farm.

Correction: They had 6 children, not 7.
Looks like Sveinn Ernest (Krink) was double counted because of the multiple names he used, Krink and Ernie. Never called Sveinn that I recall. Krink was from his favorite childhood cereal, Krinkles.

Susie's Wedding Notice
1981

Information from "Come into our Heritage RM of Argyle 1882-1982"

The "Baldur Gazette" announced her 'marriage was to take place on Monday, January 15, 1906 at 11:20am in the Icelandic Lutheran Church, Grund, to Ingi G. Brynjolfson. One hundred and fifty invitations had been issued'. The following Gazette published that the wedding had been duly celebrated and extended good wishes to the young couple. It also mentions that on Sunday evening a farewell supper was tendered Miss Christopherson by the young people of the district, being held in the Good Templars' Hall.

From Nonnie Jonsson,
I have taken this story from the book "Come Into Our Heritage" page 337 and 338 so that it will explain the wedding invitation that is attached. In the book it mentions that 150 invitations were printed, they were gilt and must have been a fairly big deal in the early 1900's. Nonni :-)
Wiki: A gilded object is described as "gilt". Where metal is gilded, it was traditionally silver in the West....

Susie's Marriage Years
1981

Information from "Come into our Heritage RM of Argyle 1882-1982".

Susie lived her early married years in Winnipeg where Ingi was a contractor. Each summer she bundled up her six children: Inga, Caroline, Wilfred, Ernest, Thordis and Gladis, to spend two glorious weeks with her brother Will and his wife Stina at Grund and camped out at Skalbreid. One summer in the late 1930's, she camped out again in a small cabin deep in an oak bluff north of Baldur with two lifelong friends, Veiga Sveinson and Emma Eggertson, recalling girlhood memories. Susie and Ingi moved their family to Chicago sometime in the 1920's where they spent the rest of their lives. There still would be many trips back to Grund for her love for her home town was strong to the end. She remained a Canadian citizen. This, then, was 'Susie', the excited young woman, who in a moment of mischief, scratched her name in the window at Grund with her engagement ring to see if it truely was a 'real' diamond.

Research: July 17, 2012: Gladys would be Susie's 6th child.
Possibly Gladys M. Asgeirson Born February 16, 1921 Died September 9, 2001 (79 years old) Last Known Residence Fort Myers, Lee County, FL (Florida), married
Paul G Asgeirson, Born June 16, 1919 Died January 23, 2000 (80 years old) Last Known Residence Fort Myers, Lee County, FL (Florida)
Here a "possible" nephew is listed related to a Gladys Brynjolfson Asgeirson source. This OBIT for Paul would confirm Thora.
Paul G. Asgeirson, 80, of Ft. Myers, Fla., and formerly of Bensenville, died Sunday, Jan. 23, in Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Mr. Asgeirson was a certified public accountant. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; two daughters, Caroline Haskin and Amy Rothenberg; a son, John; three sisters, Edna Borgford, Thora Dubois and Joan Parr; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Wonder if this Paul is our Paul? The Teddy Bears, a Winnipeg group. This group was a 1980's band, our Paul would have been 59 years old, so I think that put's this as NOT our Paul.

During Roy's trip to British Columbia, Carol Jarvie made available 100 pages of hand written letters retyped by her daughter Karen. Miriam and Roy rushed down to the local copy center, driven by Carol's husband Robert Jarvie, who waited for us to finish and drive us back.
One portion on Letter marked 45:
December 14, 1959
"My Dear Aunt Veiga and Uncle Tommy,
...There are so many interesting things to be seen here. We have visited London Tower, Windsor Castle, Buckingahm Palace and a number of other places...At the present time, I am most interested in getting started on tracing down Grandpa William Stewart Taylor's birth. I have been so busy with the house up to this point but hope that after the holidays, I will get down to Sommerset House in London where I understand they keep the birth records..."

Again we have family stating William was born in England. Also note how she spells his middle name, William Stewart Taylor, as opposed to all other spellings of "Stuart".
Only all of Roy's research shows up under this different spelling.
Where is Sommerset House in London? ANSWER: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/ROOTS/1990-03/0636404526

Even better details here. Let's start with one of the links on this page and enter William here. Since William was born Aug 9, 1830, the earliest search here that could be done is 1837. Oh well.
FreeBMD (a database of the GRO birth, marriage and death indexes from 1837) Too late of a date to help us here.
FreeCEN (a database of census information).
Let's try here. FreeREG database contains 3,591,908 Marriages, 10,459,900 Baptisms and 7,162,379 Burials.
UPDATE: Ryan Eyford has supplied Roy with William's Baptism, which was in England.

Bruce,
I believe this is him.

Ah, found it. Son of Ingi and Susie, Wilfred Brynjolfsson. There is a photo Hank has on a wall of an older Sigurdur and what I thought was his brother. I now believe it is his daughters in-laws, parents of Ingi which lived in Chicago, IL. Susie moved there, yet traveled back Crescent, and in a few old photos.
Back to Wilfred, b. 03 Jan 1912, residence 1930 389 Albany, Winnipeg Centre, Manitoba, Canada.
death 08 May 1986, Redding, Shasta, California, United States of America.
Wife: Olga Brynjolfson, no children listed. Just may mean I never searched.

#3254 'possibly' might be at 49th and Chester ST in Vancouver, BC. based on a letter written May 14, 1913 by Kjartan trading/selling a familie's property in MB for address above. It references only Svein, yet it might be Ingi's parents shown to his left and right. Chester ST also has (2nd) next to it. Or possibly the back of Ytranes. Building does not look familiar.

Sigurdur and Caroline Christopherson are standing by the tree. The son; Wilfred Brynjolfsson, would date the photo as he looks to be 1 - 2 yrs old being born on 03 Jan 1912, if 2 would be about 1914. If 1yr 5 mths old, would match date of letter.

Noticed the shape of the house in the background. Quite possibly that of GF Kjartan Christopherson home.
Sadly someone ripped the photo in half. Not uncommon since there are a few here like that. If that is Kay's cabin and this is the back side of Ytranes, Carol might be the 2nd daughter of Susie,
possibly Caroline S nee Brynjolfsson Johnson.

Barry, Krink, Billy, Lillian 1948
Possibly Krink is Brother of Caroline, Inga, Thordis and brothers Wilfred

Order is correct. Barry -eldest son, 'Krink' (Sveinn Ernest) -dad, Lillian - mom- an Anderson from Argyle District, Billy on lap (Child)
They later had a third son (Brian) FBI in Florida. By the way, there were only 6 children born to Ingi (known as Butch) and Susie.

[3] Caroline's Diary; Carol Jarvie's daughter, Karen Jarvie, spent a great deal of time re-typing 100's of 'private' family letters retreived during Ytranes's clearing out.
NOTES: This was the first test page utilizing the Behavior 'openwindow'. Selected the photo, cut the previous Open in whole new window link, under TAG in Dreamweaver 8
clicked + under Behaviors then Open Browser Window, simply copied the link to enlarged version, typed in size from jpeg found on hard drive linking to and image #.. Much simpler than
images 3553 done in CSS which was way to complicated and Okay to use if only one photo.
