Trinidad and Tobago officially the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is an archipelagic state in the southern Caribbean, lying just off the coast of northeastern Venezuela and south of Grenada in the Lesser Antilles. It shares maritime boundaries with other nations including Barbados to the northeast, Guyana to the southeast, and Venezuela to the south and west.

According to a letter, Henrietta went to visit Richard Taylor Jr. and his wife Mary while they were in St. Vincent, west of Barbados. Ref.: THFS Ltr 1844
This would prove that in 1844 the family minus Richard and John were in Barbados, and Richard Jr. was on St. Vincent before they moved to Trinidad until Richard died from operating room complications.

The American Merrimac Oil Company drilled what is said to be, "the first successful well in the world" at La Brea at Trinidad and Tobago in 1857, where oil was struck at 280 feet (85 m). [3]

Unable to post the photo of Richard Taylor Jr.. One starts to see the resemblance between him, John and William. Too bad the first Richard did not survive childhood. he probably would have shown us what Richard and Elizabeth looked like. Roy still hopes to find more old family photos from when the family was in Kingston. Since this was mid-1800's Roy doubts any are there. If we verifiy the Jones Leslie familes in Barbados, Roy believes there are painted portraits of them.

In a private letter, Enmore is put into a Trust in 1848.
Perhaps this is the person who received custodial rights for the children of Richard and Mary. Probably Richard's wife's mother?

This might be Richard Taylor's wife's burial (Left page, 4th from bottom) Mary APR 27 1752. Date to early. Maybe her mother.

John Thomas Robson brother

Two new surnames to our family, John Thomas Robson and Spouse's Name Margaret Vaughan Olton. Our Gr GM Caroline Taylor Christopherson's uncle was Richard Taylor Jr, eldest son of Richard. They were living on other islands near Barbados, namely St. Vincent. John Robson and Margaret Olton were Richard Jrs in-laws. Richard died young. Possibly being left to the eldest in the family, when the family moved to Ontario. I believe the Taylor estate, Enmore on Barbados was entrusted to their children. Enmore had become a Hotel over looking Bridgetown, and I believe offered to GF Kay, which he turned down.
