Perhaps 'The Voyage of Guðríður Þorbjarnardóttir', Ferðasaga Guðríðar, Tours Guðríður, Guðríður travelogue. Seeing the graphic Roy enhanced for following chart which will show reason for her being in the news here. Wish I could buy her performance on DVD. [1, 2,3 ,]. Thanks to Mr. Gordon Goldsborough, Roy just identified an nearly exact photo maybe 100 years before his was taken.

04/07/12   1. It is with great sadness that Roy posts that Norman Stanley Skardal passed away last last year. While Roy did not know them, he really wanted to met them, as the BC cousins said they were "very warm and friendly". Read more here 1.
04/06/12   1. Cemetery is not something many of us want to think about, yet it is a way to connect with our ancestors. Thanks to the BC cousins, Roy will be sharing photos from the Surrey Cemetery by creating a dedicated page...since Find A Grave has no info, visit our new page. For now, calling it Eternal Resting Places. Open to a better page name.
04/05/12   1. Thanks to Gordon Goldsborough, with special thanks to Nonni Jonsson, we now have a pinpoint location for five places of historical significance in Canada, that being;
1a. Carrie Street in Baldur named after Caroline nee Taylor Christopherson whom married Sigurdur. Look at Street sign,
1b. Grund homestead of Sigurdur and Caroline [see 1, 2], and 1.c. Grund Cemetery where the Christopherson and many Icelanders rest. Argyle Maps.
1d. The Frelsis (Liberty) Lutheran Church at Grund which they helped build and attended, and where Roy's parents were wed. Also see 1, 2, 3. The Lighting Globes (orig. Gas) were donated by Gudny Aradottir. A google map tour of Sigurdur's migration is underway.
1e. This church is the Immanuel Lutheran Church on Carrie St. in Baldur. Sigurjon Kristofferson was one of the early trustees.
04/03/12   1. Argyle, Manitoba is celebrating their 100th year. The logo is shaped like a viking Long Ship.
2. Added wedding photo of Hank and Thelma Christopherson. Hope to borrow and scan in the future, along with map named after a family member in Pacifica.
3. Google Maps now has Street View for Baldur, MB R0K Canada to Belmont, along with the infamous HWY 5, which lies between Baldur and Glenboro which runs by Sigurdur's Grund homestead. Grund area still blurry and unable to pinpoint the homestead.
4. Added story by about the Stone Farm House by Henry Christopherson (see NO. 2).
5. Blue Tuesday plays Friday April 13th at Bluz By You in San Jose from 8 to 12.... Friday the 13th what were we thinking :-)

03/30/12   1. Ancient wrecks found in Baltic Sea: MMT passed on sonar and film images of the wrecks to the Swedish Maritime Museum, which has been analysing them over the last few months. Contrary to earlier reports, none of the ships is a Viking longboat, said Mr Fredholm. "On the possible medieval wrecks you can see planks and what may be cargo. One ship had four or five barrels but with unknown content," he said. No diving expedition was planned in the near future, Mr Fredholm added. "It would be interesting to go down and do a full investigation but right now the only plan we have at the Maritime Museum is to analyse those video films. 4. Last year metioned Icelandic Glacial for any that cared to support Iceland, here is a link to locate Icelandic Bottled water. Appears to be in MANY more stores now. Roy asks you to consider if your tap water or bottled water contains Flouride [1] [2]. Roy has nixed buying bottles that "crinkle".

02/26/12   Roy is researching Dr. Richard Lankaster Taylor Hearn, b. 02 May 1887'. This is a fellow found before which Vern Austman worked at the same place. Pending is verification of this was a Taylor relative from the long sought Hearn family.

01/25/12   1. A BIG WELCOME to Laurel Zellner, related to Frank Sigvaldson, son of Arni!
2. Cousin Bruce Costello has published yet another book which you could view at Amazon. Details are in past news in the 2011 archive. Cousin Elena Haskins did a large amount of work proof-reading and helping Bruce. Added to Roys Portfolio under Sample 8 with early promo spot here.
3. Still scanning negatives. Up to about 50 EA and NONE have been seen before. Mostly Carol as a baby. Viewing each one negative is like a tiny unwrapped Christmas present until viewed. Update: 73 negatives and mostly of Carol and siblings in B&W 120 film. Great one of her held by Kjartan & Gudrun.
01/24/12   New Negatives: Here are two great, yet under-exposed photos from Kjartan's cabin. Some family members spotted are Ron, Bruce, Robert Cartwright, Kay, Aunt Lilja, see here Photo 1, Photo 2.
01/23/12   1. Pretty quiet these days during this winter season. Roy is still rendering the Christmas images for the family.
2. Updated the Slimmons RnD page.
3. Roy is scanning another 100 negatives. None are in any albums. 1st is Pauline and Roy's sister, Carol as a baby. The bins left to scan are mostly 1950 and later on.

01/02/12   1. Three Taylors show on the 1657 map of Barbados.
01/01/12   1. Happy New Year all! Roy spent the night researching the Taylors. There was a colony that formed in South Carolina's Charles Town, now Charlston, of English (Old World) and Barbadoes immigrants. This connects one of the 13 colonies to Barbados. Resulting in about 30 URLs, yet none leading to our Richard Taylor. Compiling the "first" map of Barbados from 1657 to see if a Taylor was there then.
